This story is from the “National Enquirer” so I don’t know how much of it I believe exactly, but it doesn’t seem too far-fetched.

Patrick Swayze has reportedly turned down a surgery to remove his infected lung, which wasn’t responding well to treatment.

After living so long with the pain of treatment, inflammation, and infection, that he’s basically giving up and throwing in the towel.

He was told by doctors that he couldn’t begin another round of chemotherapy unless the lung was cleared of the infection or completely taken out.

A friend of the star said, “The infection hadn’t responded to treatment, and breathing became so hard fr him that his family and friends, and his doctors, were desperate to provide any relief.”

A source reveals, “Patrick explained to his family, friends – and doctors – that at some point you get tired of fighting every minute of every day. The quality of his life was almost completely gone, and if he was meant to die, they just had to let him go. Patrick decided to keep taking his meds and getting the buildup of fluid drained from his stomach, but did not plan to undergo any more major treatments or surgeries.”
